What’s a Facilitator?

By definition, a facilitator is ‘one that helps to bring about an outcome (such as learning, productivity, or communication) by providing indirect or unobtrusive assistance, guidance, or supervision’ (Merriam-Webster).

The title “Facilitator” is often used interchangeably with titles such as Trainer, Coach, Teacher, Professor, and Instructor. However it is the term Facilitator or Facilitation that best describes the act of guided learning and development, or as we say, ‘bringing people to solutions, not solutions to people’.

What do they do?

FWB Facilitators will guide your community or group through a process of learning and exploration, ultimately leading you into the direction of change and cooperativeness you’ve been seeking. They do this through active listening and the use of creative thinking and problem solving models, they make everyone feel welcome to share and are always encouraging! They are there to see you succeed!

How does it work?

The process begins with a couple of initial meetings between FWB and your groups core leadership team or members, during these meetings a needs assessment and goal setting takes place. Based on this experience your Facilitator(s) would plan one or a series of workshops catered to your groups needs. Your group will be guided through the process of creative and productive thinking, setting goals, finding solutions and creating an action plan.

FWB gives professional Facilitators the opportunity to give back to communities and to create positive change. Our Facilitators love learning and sharing knowledge, they learn just as much from working with you and your community, as you learn from them, so it’s a win-win!
